Berkeley Eastern Counties are Wheelie Tyred

Hi All,

chYps-logo_2If you are looking at this page  its probably because your colleagues, loved ones and friends have been pressuring you to sponsor them if so you are in the right place!

In April 11 brave staff members of Berkeley Homes Eastern Counties will be putting their bodies through a rigours process of cycling a total of 300 miles! (rather them than me). All the money raised will go straight to our designated charity ChYps and what better way than connecting two of the world’s most chic capital cities.

Our challenge begins bright and early from South London on Wednesday  22nd April where we will head through rural Kent. Our path winds through traditional British Countryside, along the North Downs before we reach the white cliffs of Dover.

We have been supporting ChYps now for nearly two years and we are exceptionally happy to be their main corporate sponsor.

The generous funding from Berkley in 2014 enabled ChYps to recruit two much-needed new roles within their Fundraising Department, to enhance their  efforts and thus theirincome, which is directly used to provide care for seriously ill children and their families. As a charity, they only receive a proportion of their funding from statutory sources and are heavily reliant on voluntary donations, which constitute 75% of our income. ChYps need to raise over £6 million every year to provide all of our services, and being able to increase our fundraising resources has had a direct impact on the income we are able to generate in order to support more children and families in our local communities across Kent and Bexley.

ChYps started life in 1994 as the Children & Young Peoples’ Service of EllenorLions Hospices in North West Kent (Dartford, Gravesend, and Swanley). It then grew to include the London Borough of Bexley. In 2010 our services expanded into West Kent (including (Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells). In this area we are focusing on providing 24 hour palliative and end of life care to those children and young people in most urgent need, but are raising funds to progressively phase in our full service.

We will keep you posted on our challenge but for now and in order to motivate us, I urge you to dig deep!

Thank you for taking the time to sponsor us the Berkeley Homes Eastern Counties Cycle team.
